Our group music classes offer a fun, affordable way to learn in a collaborative setting alongside other students. Whether your child is just starting out or building on existing skills, our small-group format keeps lessons engaging and results-driven. Classes cover foundational musicianship, ear training, sight-reading, and music theory — all taught by the same expert instructors who lead our private lesson program.

What will students learn in group lessons?
While each class has its own curriculum, all of our group programs build core musical skills including proper technique, note reading, ear training, sight-reading, and music theory. Our instructors make sure every session presents a new challenge while keeping things fun and engaging for every student in the room.
How are group lessons structured?
Each class meets weekly for a set session length depending on the program. Our instructors balance group instruction with individual attention so no student gets left behind. Many of our classes also include a take-home practice component so students can continue building skills between sessions.
Is there a minimum age or skill level required?
Age ranges and skill requirements vary by class — see the individual class listings below for specifics. If you’re unsure which class is the right fit, contact us and we’ll help you find the best starting point for your child.
Do I need to own an instrument before starting?
For your first class, you’re welcome to use one of ours. After that, requirements vary by program — some classes use instruments available at the school, while others may require students to have their own at home for practice. Avalon Park School of Music Group Classes
Vocal Ensembles
Our Vocal Ensembles are taught by world renown Baritone Juan Tomás Martinez. Mr. Juan believes that choirs are an integral part of every student’s music education, therefore he created this class as an opportunity for the students to grow as vocalists by reinforcing fundamental skills such as ear training, reading music, and rhythm. This class is designed to teach how to sing harmonies in a smaller and more intimate setting. Our vocal ensembles have performed at venues such as Valencia College and Inter&Co Stadium. While this class is open to all regardless of their instrument, we do have informal auditions on a rolling basis.

Parent Guitar Lab
Inspired by the classes he took at Berklee College of Music, Mr. Bryan has designed this class to be able to accommodate all students regardless of their level on the guitar. The class is structured so that when someone new comes in, Mr. Bryan will work with them individually while the rest of the class works on a specific assignment on their own, then he brings everyone together to learn songs together. Mr. Bryan has worked on arrangements that allow for all the students in the class to perform songs together based on their current level.

Rock Band
The Avalon School of Music has three rock bands, one for middle school students, one for high school students and one for college students/adults.
The Rock Bands are taught by guitarist Bryan Mays who is very active in the music scene in Central Florida. The rock bands work as supplemental education for the students enrolled in private lessons. In these ensembles the students get to work in a group setting which allows them to collaborate with one another, learn how to make music with other instrumentalists, and learn how to compose music as an ensemble.
Due to Mr. Bryan’s connections to Full Sail University, our students occasionally get the chance to work in a professional recording studio and experience what it is like to be a pro! Our rock bands can often be seen performing at the Market Place and Avalon Town’s Park.

Music Appreciation
Music Appreciation class is designed to introduce the little ones to the wonderful world of music. Ms. Braidery follows a curriculum in which every couple of months the students focus on a different instrument. This includes but is not limited to hand drums, boom wackers, piano, recorder, and ukulele. By doing this, the students get to explore different instruments so that when the time for private lessons comes, the students are ready to choose which instrument they want to learn.

Ukulele Community Class
Our Ukulele Community Class is open for all ages and levels. Mr. Juan has structured this class so that all students regardless of their level feel welcome and are able to learn and grow. The students are assigned to different groups based on their level and Mr. Juan visits them to work with them in their assigned group to ensure their progress, at the end of the class everyone gets together to play songs together.
